mid-december through late february...

super maeve and super jasper (and any readers, if i still have them!)...i'm super sorry for the blog delay!
i'm behind...at life...by months.  i blame you two amazing monkeys.  this is nearly two months of photos, so here we go.  we go to maple's bakery alot, as seen above.  and to the ocean as often as we can, as seen below.  yay for a mild winter!

but fear not, we've managed to squeeze in lots of winter activities.  like neighborhood sledding parties...
jasper you wanted to babysit calvin rather than go sledding, you just kept saying "hold it! hold it!"...it being calvin!
the two man team...
this was the best we could do in capturing the neighborhood gang.  notice...there is just one girl...good lord.
we finally got to use the sled we found at a yard sale this summer...
and maeve you had jasper working overtime...
you both can't imagining putting the plasma cars away for the winter.  so we haven't...
and our favorite activity of the winter might be making snow chairs...
we went skiing (videos below) and rode the magic carpet lift...

and then drew quite accurate pictures of the day...
yet recently, the snow has melted and we are already chalking the driveway...
and having snowball picnics...

this winter we've done lots and lots of art projects...

had tea parties...
and tub parties...

and now on to you jasper...
you just loving being a part of whatever is going on.  in fact when we mention anything that we are doing you immediately ask "come?" as in may i please join in?...can i come?  you took maeve's new ski boots for a stroll/mow...
you come home from daycare with ponytails fairly often...again, you just want to be part of whatever action is going on...
you really enjoyed christmas...mmmm...
you love being silly (and are really good at it! your sense of humor is amazing!)...
i mean come on...check out this shot from daycare...
you love snuggling...
and seeing pictures of yourself...
we took you swimming the other day and you got chilly so we bundled you up.  sigh...
here you are cruising in the old port...
and modeling my patagonia vest...
and for you miss maeve, it's been two amazing months of growth and learning and change.  for starters...you don't really like to nap anymore (sometimes you do on the weekends)...
you love playing and being silly before bed...
you are very serious (note the tongue) about projects of all kinds...
you are most certainly an artist...
and oh do you love reading...
you really love you new jammies from great grammie which you insist on wearing with tights...
you love maps and flags.  you made a canadian flag at school a while back and you flipped open the back of this book and within a few seconds said "i made that" and pointed to the canadian flag.  i was floored...
you also love seeing photos of yourself and making silly faces in the mirror...
you've been drawing so many people.  i want to frame them all...
your joy and excitement is so awesome to watch...
you recently got invited to a sledding, donuts and hot cocoa party.  you kept asking for "just right cocoa" and referred to the coconut covered munchkin as "the one with rice on it"--needless to say you were in heaven...
and this photo makes me smile so much.  you are such a peanut with those teensy legs...
your people drawing has gotten to a different level with your adding words.  i wrote popsie's name on a post-it note and you wrote it next to his portrait, which we make into his birthday card!
and speaking of post-it notes.  you write lots and lots of notes and stick them everywhere...
you and dee-dee continue trying to perfect your blueberry muffin recipe and i am happy to be your taste tester...

and you've got jasper on dishes.  he's a real dyer man...
oh and i just have to share a few last photos of you two from the holidays.  you guys loved the kids table at christmas eve and you cleared your plates after and made me and dad look like great parents.  keep it up...
and never ever forget how many circles of love you have around you.  how many people would love nothing more than to read you a book...
and snuggle with you...
and speaking of snuggle...you two haven't gotten to meet cousin gwen yet, but i snuck up and snuggled her when she was just a few days old.  she's a love and she'll be a dear friend to you both, i just know it.
and now for some videos...

you two surfing on uncle evan's new/old snowboard...

maeve skiing...it's hard to keep you safe and video at the same time:) ...

first time on skis for jasper at 20 months...

maeve swimming with dee-dee...

jasper swimming with dee-dee...

start your day off right with this guy...

trampoline time..

i'll end where i always end--with gratitude.  thank you for the privilege of watching you two grow, learn to write, learn to speak, play and imagine, figure each other out, ask questions, make jokes, need love, and change.  i struggle to be able to sum it up in words.  so...thank you for this exhausting and amazing experience of parenthood.  it is a phenomenal privilege and the greatest gift.  xoxo!
