two and a half and just over a year...

here we are cruising along into spring...into two babies that are the same size…and not really babies anymore!  we've had a great month filled with snow and now sun, all kinds of toys with wheels, and mobility!

we visited wolfe's neck farm.  maeve, you didn't like the loud goat noises, but you enjoyed seeing the new lambs born just hours and days before.
we went sledding until all that was left was a patch in the backyard.  boy was it a long winter!
and then we took to strolling in the single stroller (with an added passenger)...
we went to sugarloaf one last time and took a great walk with papaw on the trails...
jasper, we will start with you.  you are changing so much.  you are big.  you love to snuggle and give kisses (which means bumping your forehead into my face).  you thrash around when you want to get our of our arms and you are hard to hold onto.  but you see, you have so many things to explore!  such as…

the cabinets...
the melting snow...
new foods...
new trails and hikes...
new books (side note: maeve when walking very quickly past the shelf above you put the breaks on and said "press here" which is the name of a book we have at home.  then you proceeded to reach down to the bottom shelf and grab it…from all of those hundreds of spines.  i was shocked!)...
the car at daycare...
the open road...
the pond skimming tournament at sugarloaf with dad...
the swing in the backyard...
the new gondola…that's right…we have a gondola from sugarloaf in our garage.  go ask dad...
jasper, for you this month brought pushing things around, your first steps, lots of interest in books, new sounds and trying to say words, ripping off your sunhat any time we are outside, nodding your head yes and no, standing in the tub, being a bottomless pit at mealtimes, and climbing stairs.  quantum leaps forward this month!

and miss maeve, you are a hoot.  you are striving to do things on your own and amaze me with all that you know.  you are silly and playful…and incredibly happy.  This month you were interested in…

using a spreader at nearly every meal...
artwork...
and more artwork...
and more artwork...
and the requisite sink cleanup and play following art time...
exploring on your own (you are the little pink speck below)...
spelling…you pulled these letters out when we were working on names.  ummm…holy crap lady!
the gondola (i call this picture little miss sugarloaf)...
swing time (lots of "under duckies"as long as they aren't too high)...
rock collecting and bench time at madeleine point...
skateboarding with dad...
and catching a ride...
helping with outside chores...
hiking with evan and shawna...
adventures on the west side trail...
dropping rocks in the drains…kerplunk...
reading...
doubling up on the fleecy outerwear...
a tea party at the botanical gardens...
sweet potato fries with friends...
pigtails for a hot second...
and more art...
maeve, this month was filled with new songs, collecting rocks, trying to do really difficult puzzles (including helping evan, shawna and i with a grown-up puzzle…you actually got some pieces!), finding mica (?!??), being potty trained, the "car song" on repeat, taking showers, a new tricycle, fun trips to the grocery store, and doing the big slide by yourself.

here are a few videos to share.  jazzy, here you are going down becky's slide on your belly.  you try to climb up the slide without much luck.  soon, buddy, soon.

and here is a slow-motion of someone else (with a big smile, flowing hair, and a sweet giggle) on the slide...

and of course we are back at it on the trampoline...

we're bouncing on into may. tomorrow is my 35th birthday, which feels extra exciting because the past few birthdays have been a blur and because you two are here to help me celebrate.  hugs and love and gratitude! xo.
