two and a quarter and ten months...

you two, stop it.  you are too much.  you are interacting in lots of ways.  jasper, you love love love when it's happening.  maeve, you like playing with jasper, but his ability to get around and into whatever you are playing is a tad frustrating and you've handled it like a champ.  but let's be honest...it's a good thing the grocery store cart has two steering wheels...
you do lots of floor play together...
tons of strolling...
and even went sledding...
we took a trip to rockport where we built our first snowman.  maeve, you are still talking about that day.  you were really proud.  it was a team effort…
but maeve you were the fore(wo)man on the job...
okay, jasper.  you're up.  it was a month of MEGA change for you.  you learned to crawl, stand, dance, wave, clap, and say some words.  you are starting to look like a little boy and good lord are you adorable...
you are super cuddly...
and so mild mannered...
you've been such a trooper this month with the crazy winter.  i overestimate your ability to tolerate the cold.  dad says putting you naked on a floor in the winter is cruel, but never has a 60s/70s tile floor looked so adorable, am i right?
this month you've been very curious...
you came along for some ice skating in your sled...
you've been dusting our floors...
grabbing pouches from us and taking things into your own hands...
training for the army...
and chilling out with mr. hobbes...
jazz, here are a few things from your journal this month…lots of interest in finger foods, crazy splashing in the tub, the official end to nursing, 24+ pounds at your nine month checkup, sitting up on your own, got your first baby doll after squealing with delight at the sight of a life-sized doll, first top tooth coming in, pulled yourself up to stand, giggling lots, tons of drumming, and i think you are making a woof sound for hobbes.

and now miss maeve.  you surprise me every single day.  with the words you know.  with your humor.  with your attitude.  with your energy.
this month was the first time you were on skis.  we started with wearing the ski vest around your room at bedtime.  you called it your leash...
then we wore the skis around the livingroom...
and then we just went for it...
you loved it!  dad was thrilled and so were you...
this month you also went ice skating for the first time...
and your obsession with surfer kelly slater continued this month...
you tried on some super cool glasses and managed to just look like a sad old lady...
you are obsessed with your placemat and pointing to all the states you know…
i've put you to work doing dishes and you love it...
and you've shown us how much style you have...
we've been doing lots of play-doh...
and oh the book nook continues to be a favorite spot to play, snuggle, and read...
one night this month you got yourself partially dressed and announced "i'm going out to watch football"...
this just feels like you right now...
meet biscuit, the puffin that dad brought you back from a trip where he stopped over in iceland...
and my dear, the crazy bedhead continues.  you are squeezable...
a few quick videos.  first, you tap danced this month.  YES!

second, you love visits from chou-chou...

third, please ignore my voice and just admire the bravery that is maeve going down a huge hill with a friend in a sled for the first time...
maeve, a few things from your journal this month…you love puzzles, the rear windshield wiper, sleeping with about 15 "bubbies" in your crib, serving people pretend food from your kitchen, doing facetime with friends (you even got to see great grammie, which you LOVED!), doing what you call "the fingernail game" before bed where i tell you one thing that each of your fingers did that day, and jumping jacks .  you are getting there with using the potty, you enjoyed celebrating cousin eve's first birthday, you wowed us with your tap dancing, and you repeat and hear everything.

maeve and jasper, this month brought lots of changes and feels like we are entering a new phase--with folks sleeping through the night, everyone enjoying lots of food, everybody moving, and no one nursing.  this month also brought the first time since february of 2012 that i haven't been pregnant or nursing, so it's been big changes all around.

i get tiny glimpses of where we are going and i have a hard time imagining that jasper you will be doing the things that maeve is doing right now and maeve you'll be doing things that i can't even comprehend, i get growing pains in my heart when you two are giggling together and being silly, and i am filled with wonder about the things that you will both do in life.  wondering what will make sense in retrospect…it will all make sense if you are a cheese monger (jasper) and the host of a talk show (maeve).  i'm so proud of who you both are already…what a gift to get to see you develop and grow.

xo!
