24 months and 7 months...

oh you two…you are just getting to be too much cuteness for me to handle.  you have been interacting so much…loving watching each other and loving each other's sounds.  at 24 months and seven months...we've done lots of cuddling and getting cozy...
lots of floor playing in the same sized pajamas (yup, that's right!)...
book nook playtime...
stroller rides (you look like twins here!)...
plasma car adventures...
a bit more strolling...
and snuggle time...
this month has been so fun to watch all kinds of new developments--sitting without wobbling, pivoting on your belly, trying out a new strider bike, talking in nearly full sentences.  you two…growing up…and too fast!

okay jasper, you first.  we call you jazzy, jazz bear, mr. man, and so many other sweet terms of endearment.  you are simple a love.  a cuddly and smiley guy.  you just adore eye contact…it's amazing. and look at those eyes...
here you are a little sleepy after waking up...
loving to play with everything (and taste everything) these days...
all snuggled up for our walks...
looking serious at a doctor's appointment...
and looking a little curious at the camera, oh my love...
you wind up each night in our bed and i wouldn't have it any other way…i mean look at those arms...
and we've been taking double backpack adventure, where you love to look around...
we have done lots of leaf play...
and you delivered birthday balloons to a special two year old...
you love prunes just like your sister...
and you are ready to play, always...
and one day dee-dee accidentally dressed you up in all of maeve's clothes...
our friend nina took this beautiful photo of you at the celebration we had for all the two year olds...
a few things i don't want to forget about this month: you weighed almost 22 pounds at your six month check-up, you got two new teeth, you love to hold a spoon in your hand while we feed you, one day at daycare i watched you sneeze directly into the mouth of the caregiver who loves you the MOST, you got to play with your friend ned, you wear size 6 diapers to bed and 12 month clothes are getting small, and your cowboy coolness at halloween.

okay miss maeve d.  your turn…

i received a sweet picture from your daycare during an outing you took...
this month has been filed with lots of "i do it self" and making demands for specific foods (you often ask for ice cream…you are clearly gifted and talented!)...
you fell in love with the character waldo this month and were able to pick him out on crazy busy pages in record time...
you collected lots of treasures in nature.  it's often the only way i can get your attention or get you to come back towards me when we are outside (by saying "look maeve…a treasure!" and you come running ready to explore)...
we did play-doh...
and read books to bahama mama...
you have been quite interested in testing and tasting jasper's food and always requests puffs (or pufferbellies as you call them)...
you got a bike this month...
and i saw photos of you side by side from december of 2012 and october of 2014…wow, right?!...
you helped out with raking and leaf spreading...
played hide and seek...
asked me to build a pen around you...
helped becky rake her yard...
played and rested in the tent we set up inside what will be jasper's room pretty soon...
we play baby after the bath when we wrap you up...
you have become the boss of hobbes, shouting out commands and also giving him lots of gentle pats...
more diving in the leaf pile...
crazy yoga time before bed...
keeping papaw busy...
and then we had the birthday for you and your friends, who all turned two within a month of one another.  we lined you up with food...
and you ate your "muffin" with a spoon...
we slid down the hill on cardboard boxes...
and took rests when you needed it...
but this whole birthday thing has blown your mind.  see?
that above was birthday pizza and now we put a candle in whatever, in this case it was a prune...
we had all of our immediate family over a few days before your actual birthday to celebrate.  i was crying tears of disbelief here, but thankfully it just looks like love and admiration…it is that, too my sweet...
a few things i don't want to forget about this month: your love of pirate's booty, how when you get hurt you say assuringly "i'm ok!," your desire to be covered up and cozy, your interest in puzzles, how you had to talk about and process the vuvuzela sound you hear for weeks (you kept saying "it loud" "in my ears" "i safe" "i inside" "wilder"  "it loud"), you think hood is hoog, all the names you want to spell each night when we "do letters," how you know that dad was in columbia and works in portland, how much you loved singing happy birthday this month, how you call vitamins "victims," and your doctor scrubs on halloween.

we had lots of time with friends this month.  including visits from jo...
the stewart boys...
team stewart-team dyer...
double stroller gang...
our friend emily took this sweet picture of us on a walk with friends...
and then there was halloween.  yup...
ride 'em cowboy, jazz...
and maeve, you had your two year check-up at the doctor in a doctor outfit!
and if all when to hell i was going to make you wear these matching nautical suits…in fact i still might:)...
we went to becky's house and august answered the door in the same costume.  doctors in training, friends for life...
this is just yes!
and speaking of yes, christina took incredible photos of our family out on little john island…

in this one she told you that she had a monkey in her camera, maeve.  i think you believed her...
and here you are sing the "up and down, up and down" part of wheels on the bus...
sigh, this is heaven...
lastly a few quick videos.  first, learning how to pump on a swing...

next, we sent birthday videos to nearly everyone this month.  this was the video for august.  your little tongue and lisp at the end--entirely too much...

and this is apparently what jumping high looks like to you, my incredible girl...

i'll sum it up with this.  maeve.  jasper.  you are it.  wonder and humor…effort and ease…love and more love.  i also have to tell you that our daycare providers and all the families there comment on how happy and easy-going you both are all the time.  thank you for that.  i know it won't always be that way, but the happiness and light within you both shines bright.  keep the lights on!  xo!
