december with miss maeve...

oh maeve.  those cheek and those eyes.  that little nose.  all peeking out from a bundled fuzzy little you. i've had a hard time looking at you lately without being amazed that i can't quite see that little baby i once held or without trying to get a glimpse of what you'll like when you are older.  i try to stay in the now.  with this sweet face...
this is going to be a quick post, as you are keeping us busy lately, but we don't want to forget all those special folks out there who check in on this space so frequently (hi little emma and great grammy)!

these past few weeks have been lots of fun, with much of our time looking like this...
you love books.  you take them all out, turn the pages, point, lift up the flaps, make sounds, dance, and move from one to the next.  you love climbing into our lap with a book and then as soon as we start to read, you pop up and get another book and come back and sit down.  we have lots of unfinished stories hanging out there.

and speaking of hanging out there.  you do lots of naked reading with your favorite book...

and now for some play.  we can't get a good photo here because you are so on the move.  with your train...
finding friends on the fridge...
playing with all the items on your shelf...
trying on hats in the jumparoo...
 and again with that train...

while playing in your closet you found your hand-me-down sneakers, which you like in concept...
and speaking of rooms and closets. we've been fast at work getting your new room ready, as you'll be moving into what was once my office.  here's a sneak peak at the color and the map that we'll be hanging...
i can't even walk in there without getting giddy about the adventures you'll have in this space.

and we are also getting ready for the holidays (we'll do a whole post on that great adventure).  but in preparation for christmas, we went to visit santa.  you weren't that into it...
so we gave santa a high five and carried on our way...
we had some great photos taken of you this month, especially one like dad's portrait when he was your age...
you continue to be a great eater.  you love almost everything we give you.  when we give you avocado you always gladly pick it up and put it in your mouth, but then you quickly spit it out.  you love putting the lid on and off of your food...
jo made you a tiny gingerbread baby the other day, which you promptly bit the head off of and then spit out...
you are experimenting and working on using the spoon...
and hobbes is always close by to help with onsite cleanup.  seen here at a hummus party, where you let your middle eastern roots shine...

you also do lots of pretend food play with your plates and cups, mixing and stirring, shaking and drinking...
and when we put this silly skirt on your head, dad said you looked like chef boyardee...
this photo below happen accidentally.  we thought we were making a video for nana for her birthday, but instead captured this photo, which is my current favorite.  it's so you right now...
i took a crib shot when you'd just woken up, which i love because of your rosy sleepiness...
ok now a few quick videos to share.  first, you playing your new drum from senegal...

next, you standing after you'd just taken 5 steps...

and lastly, you saying "i love you" for those followers who can hang on through me singing happy birthday...

nana and popsie love that we have your first sentence captured on film.  oh those two:)

maeve, this month has been dad and i constantly looking at one another in disbelief at your comprehension, words, and the way you are putting it all together.  watching you learning and grow is the greatest gift.  merry christmas and ho ho ho! xo.
