at one year...

here are photos from our sweet girl's first birthday...

the biggest thanks to our dear friends and family for all their support this year...
and there is the birthday girl, with those cheeks, those eyes, that hair, and that expressive forehead...
thank you christina, your photos bring tears to my eyes.  thank you for capturing this day!

miss maeve, on your actual birthday you woke up, we sang a little, we took hobbes for a long walk, you got some birthday rest, we met dad for lunch in town, and then we went to the art museum.  we snuggled a bunch and played a lot before bed.  i played you the audio of the moment you were born...you were fascinated by the crying baby...and my darling that was you! how is that possible?

what a year!  what a wonderful and amazing year!  you have brought so much joy into my life. thank you thank you thank you.  happy birthday, maevey d! onward to year two...

at fifty one weeks...

at fifty one weeks you have personality, determination, and love to be on the move!  and yet, this was one of your most cuddly weeks.  you are babbling and saying dada, bye-bye, and all kinds of other things which we can't decipher.  you love talking while we are out on walks.  and we've been been on the move a lot lately, trying to enjoy the outdoors as much as we can...
and when we take you out you aren't too keen on the hat you have to wear, but rules are rules...
this week at daycare you had all kinds of fun.  you were part of an ergo baby parade...
you spent some time outside in your coat that is a tad too big...
you worked on some tunes...
you took your play very seriously...
you and august were held captive in a room full of toys...
you tried on an adorable halloween costume...
and it doesn't get any cuter than this...
we spent halloween with friends and captured this photo of a monster, two bunnies, a baseball, and a catcher...
as a little monster you love your costume and wear it around the house...
at fifty one weeks we put up photos and decorations for the little birthday we had over the weekend with family and a few friends.  christina has captured so many beautiful photos of you since the day you were born...
and here is a sneak peak at your birthday photos.  here you are in awe of it all and my silhouette in the background showing my awe at you and your being here with us for nearly a whole year!
at fifty one weeks dad put you in your patriots cheerleader outfit...oh my...
at fifty one weeks it was all food food food...
you experimented...
used your two teeth...
enjoyed some chili...
and kept on with the cheerios...
miss maeve, fifty one weeks...how you've grown, how you've changed, and how you've changed our lives in the best ways possible.  there are two images from this week that i carry with me.  first, your sweet little wet body wiggling all over the bathtub--exploring and splashing.  second, coming to get you in your crib and seeing you with a pacifier in your mouth and one in your hand--every ten seconds or so you'd swap the one in your hand with the one in your mouth...and then back again.

oh sweet lady, you are joy and wonder and love...dressed in fleece footy pajamas.  xo.

at fifty weeks...

at fifty weeks you are moving, my dear.  you pull yourself up, you stand, you walk with a walker, you get where it is that you want to go.  it's amazing to see your little body in action.

at fifty weeks you had some fun eating cheerios, which you loved...
and sometimes it is hard to get them all in your mouth...
while getting ready for bed the other night, you went exploring in your closet.  and you found the hat that jeff and weenie gave you.  look how cute you are...
this week at daycare, you and august celebrated his birthday with lunch out at a restaurant...
and you played together (pants optional)...
at fifty weeks it was chilly.  so we bundled you up and hit the road for some fun walks...
a bundle of fleece...
and often when we get home you are already on the move before we can take of your gear.  so it comes off in stages...
this little monster had feet that were too slippery to make it up the stairs...
at fifty weeks you walked with your new-to-you walker.  we put in down, stood you next to it and this is what happened...

and while out for a walk in your stroller, i noticed your blanket moving all around.  i stopped and came to the front of your stroller and captured this...
at fifty weeks you tried on a little orphan annie wig, which was about the cutest thing i've ever seen...
at fifty weeks we had the one year celebration for you and all of your birthroots buddies.  it was amazing to see you all doing your thing, chewing on toys, getting around, and interacting with one another.  you were simply delighted to have so many friends over.  you just kept giggling and laughing...over and over.  nina made a poster for each baby with some stats from the year...i just adore it, mrs. d...
you and your buddies lined up for snacks and cupcakes...
and mr. hobbes parked himself under all the kiddos and was showered with crumbs and snacks...
you took in the sights from your highchair...
and showed off a whole range of expressions...

oh and this one is my favorite.  those big eyes, that wispy hair, those soft cheeks...
this week was so fun.  you are joy and laughter, curiosity and love.  week fifty brought a cuddlier baby than we've seen in a while.  one night you were a bit upset and i held you for a long time.  when i went to put you down, you still wanted to snuggle.  so i brought you into bed and tucked you in by the snoogle and we cuddled.  i loved that and you clearly did, too. xo.
