at forty one weeks...

at forty one weeks you are going places.  you roll to get where you want to go and you push yourself up so high in preparation for crawling.  when we come to get you in your crib you are always on your stomach and when you hear the door open you push yourself up, just beaming your sweet smile.

we spent lots of time together outside this week.  playing on a blanket in the lawn...
down at sandy point...
scoping out the beach.  lately you don't miss a beat...
we went on a boat ride with your friends jill and jersey.  jill held you for the ride out to long island and you played with the buttons on her shirt most of the time and wiggled your feet all of the time...

and this weekend you got to meet your friends martin and russ from denmark, but we didn't get any photos. darn.

this week at daycare you had lots of adventure time.  some time for food play...
time to play with august...
time at camp and in the sand...
time to hang with jackson by the lake...
and time to getting a visit from a nudist/friend...
in the food department you continue having fun and feeding hobbes...
 yogurt is always a favorite...
and those prunes are, too...
 and hello goat cheese...
and then there is the time when you sit in your chair watching us prepare your food, smiling and talking, and making silly expressions...

this week we got lots of hand-me-downs, which we promptly sorted out.  i sat you on the floor and gave you some things to look at.  you pulled at buttons, snaps, and tags.  then we put this bubble skirt on your head, which looked like a chef's hat...until it fell around your neck...
i wanted to post a photo of you with me and with dad this week.  you are so fun when either of us walks in the room, comes home from work, comes to get you from your crib...you shriek with excitement, which mixes with giggles of happiness.  i don't think there is anything better that in our world.  here you are with dad...
and here you are happily examining my face.  notice i've preemptively removed my glasses...
at forty one weeks you seemed big, especially when you looked at me on friday, clasped your hands together and then just started clapping.  now you do it all the time.  we are seeing changes each and every day.  and this week you slept really well, great naps and good nights of sleep.  you go to bed around 630-730pm, wake up for a bottle between 3 and 4 and then go back to sleep until after 7.  you wake up so incredibly happy.

rise and shine sweet maeve...you are [so incredibly] loved!

at forty weeks...

at forty weeks, you are changing girl! and dad and i just look at each other in disbelief when we realize just how much you understand...way more than we thought!  you've been exploring your voice and vocal range, wiggling around in preparation for thinking about crawling, eating lots, sleeping and napping well, and playing librarian.

you ate your first deviled egg.  you are your father's daughter...
at forty weeks you got to meet logan, your second cousin...
you just held his hand and smiled...
or let him know you were nice by touching his knee and squealing at the top of your lungs...
at forty weeks we spent lots of time playing on the floor.  reading...
hanging out...
rocking out in the exersaucer...
playing tunes...

practicing standing...

making faces at your reflection...
chilling with dad...
doing your new move, where you fall back on purpose and laugh hysterically and then look up at us.  when we try to sit you back up, you get stiff and won't bend at the waist...and keep falling back into our laps...
and ripping my glasses from my face and giving sneaky looks...

at forty weeks we got to spend a day visit tracy and carter.  you loved being around carter...
 except when you didn't...
i love being able to see you in the mirror while driving.  i love when i see you smile in reaction to certain songs or when i spell your name.  you always smile during the first e...
this weekend we went to the dump and while unloading the trash from the trunk i saw your cutie-pie face peeking around...
at forty weeks we visited the yarmouth community garden, which was gorgeous.   we brought a blanket and hung out...
you were back at it with the sun hat this week...
and then you whipped that hat off and gave a big grin...
at the gardens we found a maeve-sized wheel barrow and put you to work...
explored some of the gardens and creative spaces...
and relaxed on an adirondack chair for a while...
it was a fast week, filled with fun visits from friends and family, a baby party, and your sweetness.  when i look at you it's hard not to smile...and it's hard to believe you are that little baby that i gave birth to.  your baby pictures are starting to look less and less like you, which is both sad and wildly incredible.  oh maeve...keep up the kindness, the silliness, the awesome expressions, and the love.  xoxo little maevis deeee-vis...

at thirty nine weeks...

at thirty nine weeks we had lots of fun.  we celebrated your nine month birthday, had a great friday together, visited with family and friends, wore a crazy hat, and had lots of activity with rocking and dancing (your two new favorite things)!

at thirty nine weeks we wondered if more teeth were on their way, based on your shoving all of your fingers (minus the middle one) into your mouth at once, but no new teeth arrived this week...
we took a photo of you on your nine month birthday, even though you weren't awake yet.  but look at you already throwing fist pumps, so i submitted your photo to this wonderful blog...
here you are in the waiting room at your nine month checkup.  the doctor said you are doing really well, that you are a young nine months, and that you are a skinny mini with a big head...
you had a special day with nana this week and gave lots of smiles...
and on your day with grandma you talked and sang during your entire walk around little john.   in nana and grandma you have two of your biggest fans...and most excited visitors.

on friday we had a nice rainy day together.  we went into yarmouth and met a friend for lunch.  she gave you the straw hat featured in this week's blog (thanks leslie!).  we came home, got cozy, and were super lazy.  yawns all around...
we read lots of books in bed...
i swear you are sorting out your favorites, which are mes animaux, quack quack maisy, and hip hop.  i love the intensity with which you open and close the pages and examine the pictures and the mystery/wonder that is a book...
we took a bath in the real bathtub.  hobbes who usually avoids the tub for fear that he's getting a bath was quite interested in the action.  he kept licking the water off of your arms, letting you splash him, and trying to drink the bath water.  oh hobbes...
your bath towel from aunt helen has been getting lots of use...
when we arrived in rockport on saturday you held court in nana and popsie's kitchen.  i came back into the room behind you and saw nana and popsie both had their cameras taking dozens of the same pictures of you.  two of my favorites were this one...
 and this one...
at thirty nine weeks we celebrated amanda's 30th birthday in rockport with friends.  you and alice, who are just a month apart, enjoyed babbling to/at each other...
buddies...
you helped amanda wash and wrap potatoes for the lobster bake...
you did such a great job all weekend sleeping and napping in your pack and play.  i have to resist the urge to just climb right in there with you.  zzzz...
on sunday we spent the day with evan, shawna, ian, and megan at hobbs pond...
you loved watching the action...
you are working on standing up...
and you are doing so well.  you and dad practice each day...
week thirty nine brought lots of walks after work.  the days are getting shorter, but we are getting out there to get hobbes some exercise and all of us some fresh air.  in this picture you look so much like uncle ian...
and i love your little smile when we pop around to the front of your stroller to say hello.  you are always a little off kilter in the stroller, which makes you look extra relaxed and chill...
at thirty nine weeks august and his family were on vacation, so we don't have any photos of you two from the week.  it will be amazing to see how much you've changed when you see each other next.

this week i was struck by how much you understand and comprehend...and recall.  i see it most when we are reading. also, i was noticing some of the patterns that i don't think i realized were there.   it was a week of seeing how much is going on in that little (or big) head.  and this week you made great progress with eating...bring on the chunky foods.  oh but you still love nursing.  when we got home on sunday night we cuddled on the couch and you snuggled in.  while i find myself ready to be done with pumping, i'm not ready to be done with our time together.

it was a great week, that had twinges of fall in there air, which i loved.  xo little maeve, there was lots of love in the air, too!
