at thirty seven weeks...

at thirty seven weeks you dance and wiggle so much...and you slept like a champ. nice work, sister!  we needed a few good nights of zzzzzs.

this week was quite nautical.  exhibit a:
and you went on a long boat ride to jewell island...

we rafted together with friends and relaxed in the sun...
and you met up with some new buddies...
we popped you in your seat for a little pre-departure nap...
but you preferred to sleep in my arms (both to and from the island)...
my view...

at thirty seven weeks you continue to explore foods and have some small challenges with anything that is too chunky or textured...

you've really started picking up little snacks, which just stick to your hands and face...
you love sitting in your chair, so you can watch the action in the kitchen and crinkle pieces of paper...
and hobbes has figured out the perfect place to eat while you are in your seat/dropping food and crumbs...
at thirty seven weeks we visit the "baby in the mirror" every day.  you love her and i think you finally realize it's you...

and here are a few photos of our world this week.  skeptically playing in the grass...
our morning toy routine...
a picture of your sleeping in the car.  i just adore your little hands in this photo...
squeezable...
and splashing it up in the sink/tub...
we went for a misty walk in the woods at tinker with hobbes on friday.  our fridays together continue to bring me so much joy.  i love your expression here. happiness, a tiny bit of surprise, and otherwise quite chill...
at thirty seven weeks we got together with some our birth roots crew.  yay for another baby pinwheel...
after our baby playtime, we had a visit from the vendt family...all seven of them.  here you are with your buddy, quinn, who was born just three days before you...
this week at daycare was a little sad, but mostly just silly...

you and august looking cool (this was the face you made about 50% of the time this week) and having fun...

rocking out in the jumparoo...
and lots of funny face making with wilder...

and no week of daycare is complete without a visit to the library.  hooray for summer!

miss maeve, bringer of the joy...this was a wild week, a busy week, and a slightly overwhelming week.  oh but cuddling with you, playing in the grass and on the floor, and kissing your little neck...it makes it all make sense.

good things await you and our family this coming week...and beyond.

hugs and hugs and hugs.

at thirty six weeks...

maeve! this week was summer in full swing and you felt like a big silly girl.  you smile almost all the time.  when you aren't smiling you are making silly expressions.  like this...
and this...
and it seems thirty six weeks was the week of the blue polka dot hat!  and the week of the yarmulke (which you wore in celebration of rachel and matt's wedding last week)...
at thirty six weeks you continue to have fun with food...
and have fun playing peek-a-boo/love staring at yourself in the mirror...
peek-a-boo...
and look at you...you smile every time you see yourself...

you looked over the brochure for the yarmouth clam festival...
and decided to meet up with mylah before the parade and listen to some music.  yay north of nashville.  the top half of your body rocks back and forth whenever you hear music...and for a little while after.  it's pretty much the cutest thing...
at thirty six weeks, we pulled out your next box of clothes and sorted items that you've outgrown from your dresser...
we tried on two handmade dresses.  the first was a little too big...

and the second was juuuust right.  you looked so darling (thank you aunt helen!)...
you have two teeth, but this week you've been drooling a lot and always seem to soak your shirts.  which makes us think more teeth are on the way...
and we've had a few nights where you just seem a bit unsettled, which is what happened last time you popped out those teeth.  we usually play on the floor for a bit (i try to sleep beside you) and then you gently fall asleep amidst the blankets and toys...
at thirty six weeks we had to stay cool during the heat wave, so we played lots in your room, where the air conditioner kept it cool...
we had lots of time outside, clothing optional for babies...
we hung out in the shade...
we went in your new pool every day this weekend (thanks joanna!).  you might have shut down the pool a few times, if you know what i'm saying.  you also love watching cars and people go by from your pool...
and we went to the beach and put you under a big umbrella...and posed for a family picture...
even though it was hot out, you still snuggled with me...

 and dad...

at thirty six weeks you met your new friend, hank, who was visiting all the way from tulsa...
you hit up madeleine point...

and sandy point...
you played some...
you put on your colgate university gear, yours is still a bit big...

and fell in love in just three days...
this week at daycare, you just tried to stay cool and make music with spatulas...
i got this cute picture on my phone with the caption "how's your day going, mom?"...
maevey girl, this week you loved sitting in your chair and wiggling around.  your laughter fills our house.  you are determined to know where hobbes is at all times and have quite the view from your perch...
little maeve, you keep bringing the goodness, the greatness, the love through those huge blue eyes, wisps of hair, that soft skin, those sharp little nails, those adorable little shoulder caps, and that tongue that is moving and wiggling constantly.  and that smile, that eye squinting smile.  week thirty six comes to a close and if i had to describe it, i'd say it was a sweaty sticky laughter-filled hug where i'm never going to be the one that lets go first.
